LAHORE: A violent mob of traders and encroachers at Township main market ransacked government vehicles and traffic signals after attacking the anti encroachment squad of the Town Municipal Administration (TMA) of Iqbal Town here on Friday.
The incident took place when special team of district administration arrived to remove encroachments from the roads of main market.
Hundreds of traders and encroachers carrying sticks and iron rods resisted against the operation and attacked the vehicles.
The mob set ablaze vehicles and also burnt tires on the roads. They also tortured the officials of TMA Iqbal Town.
Local police on receiving information reached the spot and controlled the mob.
Meanwhile DCO Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi reiterated government s firm resolve to continue operation cleanup at every cost.
He said that all those involved in this incident would be taken to task. Township police also registered an FIR. (APP)
