Peshawar: Grenade found on railway racks near Iranian consulate defused
PESHAWAR: The bomb disposal unit on Tuesday here defused the hand grenade recovered by the police on the railway tracks near Iranian consulate before it could have caused any disaster, Geo News reported.

Sources said that the hand grenade recovered this morning from the railway track near Iranian consulate was actually thrown by the suicide bomber on Monday from outside the Iranian consulate, which remained untraced and unexploded overnight on the tracks.

Officials said a patrolling police party found the bomb on railway tracks along Iranian consulate. The bomb disposal unit was called to check and diffuse the bomb.

Taliban-affiliated Mast Gul group had claimed the responsibility of the Monday attack.

Police said a teen-aged suicide bomber had walked up to the check-post outside the Iranian mission after parking his car nearby. He then blew himself up after being stopped by security men.
