ICC report claims some 2011 World Cup matches were fixed
NEW DELHI: A confidential International Cricket Council (ICC) report claims some matches of the 2011 World Cup and other international fixtures were fixed. There is also mention of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches being fixed.

According to Indian media the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) covered a total of 470 matches and over 200 practice sessions to compile the report. The report claims the mastermind of the illegal network known as SB was first observed and tagged by ACSU in 2010.

The ACSU had advised several players to stay clear of SB and his associates. In its findings the ACSU claimed that two players approached by SB and his associates had reported the contact.

The 41-page report also mentions other bookies including one identified as JS who allegedly contacted the brother of a top international cricketer and offered Indian Rs5 million to throw a match.

The ACSU also monitored the 2010 ODI series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe as these matches were the topic of discussion between JS, a former Kenyan captain and a Zimbabwe based bookie.

The ACSU hid the real identities of the bookies even from the ICC board to keep its investigation confidential.
