KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Friday passed a resolution against the extra judicial murders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers.
The Sindh Assembly session was held with speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in the chair. As the session began, MQM MPAs protested against the extra judicial killing of party workers calling for those accused to be presented in court. The MQM tabled a resolution against the murder of party workers with Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui saying the law and order situation in Karachi was worse than a jungle. MQM MPA Khawaja Izharul Hasan said the party was being punished for its struggles for democracy.
MQM MPA Faisal Sabzwari condemning the extra judicial murders said those party workers who have been accused of crimes should be arrested and strict action should be taken against them
Speaking to media prior to the session, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said talks over the issue were being held with Governor Sindh and MQM representatives, however, no law enforcement agency had taken responsibility for the arrests. Memon said the PPP would support the MQM calling on the party to submit evidence and file a FIR.
The MQM is observing a day of mourning across Sindh on Friday against the extra judicial murder of party workers.
