ISLAMABAD: Former fast bowler Wasim Akram said on Wednesday that the appointment of Waqar Younis as head coach of national cricket team will be advantageous.
Talking to a tv news channel, Wasim said that it is a great step as team is expected to participate in big events like World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.
He said that Waqar had always been an inspiration for the youngsters and was one of the best cricket players Pakistan has ever produced.
To a question Wasim said that all the coaches appointed for different departments will have to work as one unit in order to get desired results.
The former bowling great said that Waqar’s immediate aim should be to prepare the team for the upcoming busy cricket season including 2015 World Cup.
He hoped that the current changes in PCB set up were going to be proved beneficial for the cricket team.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the former fast bowler who was also doing the job in 2010 before quitting in late 2011 had been given a two-year contract. (APP)
