KARACHI: Javeria Mirza impressed everyone as she emerged victorious at the 1st Eid Milan Scrabble Tournament contested here at a local hotel.
Seventeen year old Javeria, who was a runner-up at last year's World Youth Scrabble Championship, won her first 8 matches in a row to take the title with an 8-1 record and a spread of 785.
Veteran Hassan Ali broke Javeria's winning streak by beating her in the last round. He finished 2nd with 8 wins and a spread of 424.
Tariq Pervez was also in good form taking the 3rd position with 7 wins and a spread of 904.
It was a rare bad day for the national champion Waseem Khatri who finished at 10th, his lowest finish of the year.
A total of 35 players took part in the tournament.
