Flood affected 27,700 people,120 villages in Azad Kashmir: NDMA
ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Ahmed Kamal said that 27,700 people and 120 villages in Pakistan Administered Kashmir have been affected due to rain and flood.

Talking to a private news channel, he said 1,785 houses have been completely smashed while 3,712 houses partially damaged in the area. He said in Punjab 131 people have been killed while 63 died in Pakistani Administered Kashmir and 11 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said 838 villages of Punjab have been affected so for. He said more than 350 houses have been completely destroyed while more than 1,100 have been partially damaged.

In Punjab, 273 people have been injured and 1,168 houses have been partially damaged whereas 352 houses have been collapsed completely, he added.

In Azad Kashmir, 120 villages and 769 people have been affected. Rescue operation is going on in Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Chiniot and Jhang with the help of boats and helicopters, Ahmad said.

He said local civic organizations along with Pakistan Army have continued rescue operations in the affected areas and more than 9,000 people have been shifted to safer places.

Ahmed Kamal said if level of water crossed the present danger mark spillway gates of Trimmo Barrage will have to be thrown open.
