ISLAMABAD: Former Interior Secretary and Secretary General, Roedad Khan said on Saturday that section 144 had not been imposed during his tenure.
"I was the secretary interior and secretary general for eight years but section 144 was never imposed," Roedad Khan told Geo News correspondent Azaz Syed.
He added: "We did not take notice of this (section 144) under military dictator Pervez Musharraf."
According to Roedad Khan it was shameful that an elected prime minister had ‘remembered’ section 144. Mr Khan said this was an illegal order and he would not comply with it.
Earlier, a local court in Islamabad ordered to send 100 protesting workers of PTI and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to jail on 14-day judicial remand.
Following the arrests, several PTI leaders and workers reached the F-8 Kacheri and interfered with police activity. After failing to disperse with the crowd PTI leader Azam Swati was detained by police for violating section 144.
