KARACHI: Wicketkeeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan smashed a superb unbeaten hundred as Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) took an upper hand in their Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy Gold League final against National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) on Tuesday.

Replying to NBP first innings total of 242 all out SNGPL had reached 278-4 in their first innings at draw of stumps on day two of their 5-day tie, thus taking 26 runs first innings lead here at the National Stadium.

Talented Rizwan who featured in the one-day series against Kenya for Pakistan A team blasted 19 boundaries in his 126 not out off 180 ball knock and it was spiced with 19 boundaries. Khurram Shahzad batted in his flamboyant fashion hitting five fours and one six in his 41 not out.

Rizwan and Khurram shared an unbroken 113-run fifth wicket stand after SNGPL slumped to 165-4. Earlier double strikes from paceman Ahmed Jamal and Zia-ul-Haq wicket reduced Sui Gas team to 70-3.

Earlier NBP added just three runs to their overnight total of 239-8 before being bowled out for 242 this morning with Manzoor Khan taking the last two wickets.

Rookie left arm medium pacer Manzoor playing only his third first class game ended with five wickets for 45 runs in 21.4 overs
