ISLAMABAD: Secretary Narcotics Control Division (NCD) Zafar Abbas Luk has disputed his as well as his Section Officer’s summoning in the “ephedrine quota case” by the investigators of the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), Geo News reported.
According to an ANF investigator, Abid Zulfiqar, the Secretary NCD, in a warning letter, had picked apart in the most strongest of words his (Abid Zulfiqar's) sending for the senior officers including, DG ANF in the said case.
The secretary, in the same letter also argued that ANF investigator’s act of calling the top brass ran counter to the department’s code of conduct.
Moreover, saying that his attitude was giving rise to mutiny as well as disorganization in the department, Luk warned Abid Zulfiqar of severe disciplinary action for his taking such liberties with the rules & regulations.
The Secretary also directed the investigation officer to call on him at the earliest for an explanation.
Going forward, the secretary declared Abid Zulfiqar actions were no less than misconduct causing embarrassment for his office as well as the government.
It is pertinent to mention that the drug quota case in which Prime Minister Syed Youuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Musa Gilani has been named is in the court while ANF, which is under severe pressure, is trying to get to the bottom of the matters.
