MoF issues grant of Rs 2 billion to HEC

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has issued grant of Rs 2 billion to Higher Education Commission as per directives of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.

According to the HEC sources, the granted amount is not enough to pay the salaries of varsity’s staffers, adding development budget’s money was not provided which will affect students studying on scholarships.

He said that research, infrastructure of varsity and salaries of project workers could not be paid.

Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association President Kaleem Ullah expressed dissatisfaction over the grant. He said that if remaining amount would not be provided by June 30 then they will launch countrywide protests.

Prime Minister had directed the ministry of finance to issue grant of Rs 6 billion to HEC.
