ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday resumed hearing of the Haj corruption case and ordered to issue dismissal notice to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gilgit-Baltistan Hussain Asghar for not appearing before the bench despite the court orders.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, was hearing a suo moto case of corruption in Haj arrangements in 2010.
During today’s hearing, Hussain Asghar who was heading the FIA team investigating the scam when he was appointed IGP GB failed to appear before the court.
Chief Justice Iftikhar instructed the deputy attorney general to issue a suspension notification if Asghar failed to appear in court by tomorrow (Thursday).
Moreover, the CJ also inquired as to why Asghar had not been suspended already and summoned the attorney general.
