LAHORE: Lawyers are observing black day in protest against the new contempt law by hoisting black flags at the offices of Bar Associations and Bar Councils and wearing black armbands across the country, Geo News reported.
Punjab lawyers like the legal fraternity in other provinces are also observing black day and boycotted the courts. Lawyers on the call of Nankana Saheb District Bar are also on strike against the new contempt law and for expressing their solidarity with the judiciary.
Addressing the protest meeting, Pakistan Bar Council Chairman, Farhan Muazzam said that the new contempt law was a black law as it aimed at subduing the proactive judiciary.
