PESHAWAR: The family members of Dr Shakil Afridi, who is in prison for helping Americans reach deceased al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, have been allowed to visit him in Jail, Geo News reported.
His first visitors in Peshawar jail, where he is serving his term, were his lawyer Sami Afridi and brother Jamil Afridi.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced it had lifted the ban barring Dr Shakeel Afridi from meeting his family.
Talking to media, the Deputy Superintendent Peshawar Jail, Maqsud ur Rehman said the provincial government has allowed Dr Shakeel to meet his family once a month.
Afridi is incarcerated for running a pretentious vaccination campaign in Abbotabad allegedly for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in a bid to trace Osama bin Laden.
