KARACHI: Following the surge in wheat, chakki flour price during the holy month of Ramazan went up by Rs2/ per kilo here, Geo News reported.
While the inflationary pressure continues building up, it has made it difficult for the poor to buy bread for even one-time meal.
Sources said that Chakki owners in the footsteps of the flourmills have also jacked up the flour price to Rs38/ per kilo from Rs36. Sources further said that the wheat price seen surging due to heavy purchases made by the exporters.
U.S. worst drought in 56 years has boosted demand of Pakistani wheat in the international market and the exporters seizing the opportunity shipping wheat to Malaysia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
