Mobile sims issued through fake documents to be blocked: Malik
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior A. Rehman Malik on Tuesday said that government has the top most responsibility to ensure protection to the lives and property of the people and all efforts will be made to keep them secure.

While talking to newsmen here during his visit to the Police line headquarters, the minister said that mobile services were suspended for few hours because there had been reports about conspiracies being hatched by enemies of the country to hit on the important occasion of Eid.

A lot of prepaid sims issued on fake documents are used in terrorist attacks. On this issue, the minister assured to consult with all the concerned authorities to immediately block such prepaid sims to foil nefarious designs of terrorists' elements.

The minister said that such mobile sims are also used in `extortion activities' and it is being considered to block needless prepaid sims in various phases. "The final decision, however, would be made after consultation with all stakeholders and experts, he maintained.

Commenting on Kamra airbase attack, Malik said law enforcement agencies and Punjab police are investigating into the matter.

The minister appreciated the performance of Islamabad Police on this occasion and said that personnel of this force have sacrificed their lives for the better future of nation. He also urged the policemen to adopt polite attitude with the citizens as this is the best gift to them.

Rehman Malik also assured to resolve the strength problem of Islamabad police and said that recruitment would be made soon while work on housing society would be also started.

The minister laid floral wreath at National Police Martyrs' Monument at Police Line Headquarters Islamabad and prayed Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace.

High officials of Islamabad police were also present on the occasion. (APP)
