NEW YORK: British third seed Andy Murray advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open on Monday by defeating Canadian 15th seed Milos Raonic 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.
Olympic champion Murray, seeking his first Grand Slam title, will play for a berth in the semi-finals against Croatian 12th seed Marin Cilic.
In another match world No.7, Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic beat Spanish Nicolas Almagro 7-6, 6-4, 6-1 to set up a Q-Final against Roger Federer.
In the women’s group Sara Errani has beaten Angelique Kerber to reach the Q-Finals.
