KARACHI: Rescue workers have drained almost 80 percent of the water which accumulated in the basement of the garment factory, where a terrible blaze killed hundreds, Geo News reported.
According to sources, rescuers while pumping the water out of the building’s basement also recovered two more dead bodies.
It must be mentioned that fire department showered thousands of gallons of water to douse the stubborn chemical blaze, which flooded the parts of building built underground.
It was also reported that the level of water accumulated had risen up to eight feet, which might have drowned several workers trapped down there.
Eyewitnesses said that the fire was so intense that the water reached boiling temperature.
Bulldozers are working to bring the walls down and clear the debris so that the gutted wreck of the factory could be thoroughly combed for more dead bodies.
On the other hand the relatives of the victims strongly protested the delayed rescue work.
Geo News also learnt that the government has decided to conduct DNA tests of the unidentifiable victims so that the dead bodies could be handed over to respective next of kin.
