Blasphemy case: Court adjourns hearing of Jadoon's bail plea
ISLAMABAD: A trial court in Islamabad resumed the hearing of bail plea of Khalid Jaddon, who was arrested in blasphemy case against Chirstian girl Rimsha Masih, and directed his lawyers to submit an explanation over a stay order issued by the High Court, Geo News reported Wednesday.

The session judge of Islamabad court resumed the hearing of bail plea of accused Khalid Jadoon. The lawyer opposing Jadoon’s bail contended that the Islamabad High Court has issued stay order over the proceedings of the case.

Replying to this, the lawyer representing the accused cleric told that the stay order was issued on the trial of the case and it does not have any effect over the bail plea.

However, the court then directed the lawyers of the parties to bring explanation of the stay order and adjourned the hearing till October 11.

Earlier, the three witnesses who had testified against Jadoon had withdrawn their statements, insisting that the police had “forced” them to do so.

According to their new statements, they did not see Jadoon desecrating pages from the Holy Quran and adding them to the evidence against Rimsha Masih.
