Karachi: FPCCI shelves traders strike for 15 days
KARACHI: Karachi’s business community has shelved a mega-strike it called against extortion after receiving an assurance from Governor Sindh Dr Isharat-ul-Ibad of a decisive blow to the menace, Geo News reported.

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) postponed the strike for the next fifteen days.

The office bearers of FPCCI called on the governor to apprise him about the gravity of the situation.

He was informed how extortionists are killing those businessmen who failed to cough out the money demanded.

Later, talking to media the governor said his meeting with the traders helped him understand their reservations in depth.

Earlier on Thursday FPCCI bashed the government for failing in reining in the rampant extortion and related crimes and reiterated its commitment to stage a strike on November 8.
