Karachi: Leather factory fire brought under control

KARACHI: Firemen after hours of firefighting through the night finally tamed the infernal blaze that broke out at a leather factory here,Geo News reported.

Earlier it was reported that a leather apparel making unit in Korangi Industrial Area was on fire and fire brigade was busy dousing it.

According to factory owner it all began with a small fire that erupted in the stitching department.

"It soon flared up into a big one finding its way out to other departments'" he said.

The heat was so intense that parts of some walls also came tumbling down as the intense heat cracked them open, the factory owner added.

It took around ten fire tenders, two bowsers, and dozens of firemen about three hours to fight the inferno down but they could not stop it from turning merchandise/material worth millions of rupees to ashes.

Other than a firefighter getting injured no other casualties were reported from the burning factory.
