OGRA approves raise in gas tariff
ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has given approval to an increase in gas tariff and sent the summary to ministry of petroleum.

According to an OGRA official, the request to raise gas tariff was made by the gas companies. Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) asked to hike the tariff by 6.14 percent while that of Sui Northern by 9.87 percent.

He said that if the petroleum ministry approved the summary then the price of gas supply from Sui Southern would be increased by Rs 29 per mmbtu while Sui Northern by Rs 31.

The official said that the new tariff will not only affect the residential consumers but also industries and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

He said that the new prices will be effected from January 1, 2013 if the summary gets approved.
