LAHORE: Punjab government has suspended dozens of office bearers of Young Doctors Association (YDA) on top of transferring at least 60 members for staging unlawful strikes, Geo News reported.
Notifications have been issued to this effect, sources told Geo News.
On the other hand the YDA says this move will only usher in more trouble for not only the government but the patients as well.
“Now both the government and those who come to hospitals looking for medical care will suffer”, said a YDA office bearer.
He also added that it was a pity that the government was requiting their "care" with the "cane".
A spokesperson for Health Department talking to Geo News said that it wasn’t like doctors to stage strikes/protests.
“This profession was too noble to be tainted by such basal acts. Doctors should refrain from coming down to agitation to get their demands met”, said he.
YDA has convened its central executive committee meeting to hash out future line of action in the wake of these mass suspensions and transfers.
