PESHAWAR: Over 200 Levies personnel refused to perform duties in a semi-autonomous region near Peshawar following the brutal killing of 22 soldiers last month, Geo News reported.
According to reports, check-posts in the area are lying vacant for the last 18 days, as the Levies personnel were scared of militant attacks following the abduction and killing of their colleagues.
Authorities said the Levies soldiers were not properly trained and armed and that their check-posts were vulnerable to militant attacks in Peshawar’s suburbs.
Sources said that the administration was aware of the situation but no action was taken so far.
