ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has directed all the Station House Officers (SHOs) in Karachi to increase police patrolling in their respective areas to maintain law and order in the port city, sources said on Friday.
In a statement issued by interior ministry, he instructed the police officers to keep a vigil aye on public transport, taxies, and motorcycles in the city.
The minister’s statement on potential threats to the city drew strong criticism but he stood by his remarks in which he said the city might face a wave of deadly violence in the first week of February.
Meanwhile, a notification issued here on Friday said fuel quota for police mobiles has been decreased from nine to seven liter a day.
