President convenes joint session of parliament
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has convened a joint session of the parliament to endorse imposition of governor rule in Balochistan on February 6th, Geo News reported Friday.

According to a statement issued by the presidency, the president has convened the session on February 6 at 5:00 pm.

Earlier, the Federal Ministry for Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs sent a summary to the President to convene a joint sitting of the parliament.

Governor rule was imposed in the country’s southwestern province by the president by invoking article 234 of the Constitution.

Law Minister Farooq Naik told media that the joint sitting of the Senate and the National Assembly would meet on one-point agenda where a proclamation of imposing governor rule in Balochistan would be presented.

The proclamation of imposing governor rule is required to be presented before the joint sitting within two months under the Constitution.
