Ban on appointments discussed in EC meeting
ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim was held in EC office, here on Wednesday.

The meeting reviewed various issues relating to the government’s application for lifting a ban on public sector appointments, ineligibility of parliamentarians and implementation of article 62 and 63 of the constitution.

The meeting also discussed verification of voter lists, progress on delimitation of constituencies in Karachi and various issues regarding electoral candidates and parliamentarians.

It is also considering few amendments in filing nomination papers while allotment of electoral symbols to political parties would also be fixed in the meeting.

According to sources, the meeting would continue for two to three days.
