ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi as Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Geo News reported.
Justice Kasi succeeds Justice Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman, the former Chief Justice Islamabad High Court, who has been appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan, said a notification issued here.
Formerly Justice Kasi was rendering services as a Judge in the Islamabad High Court. it is pertinent to mention that both the appointments come on the same day.
Spokesperson to the President, Senator Farhatullah Babar, said the Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of Judges in the Superior Courts, after receiving the said nominations from the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, unanimously agreed to it and requested the Prime Minister to advise the President for the appointments.
Accordingly, acting upon the advice of the Prime Minister, the President approved the appointments here on Saturday.
