ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan meets with Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim in the chair today to finalize security plan for the upcoming general election amid growing concerns as violence grips large swathes of the country.
Election campaign in Punjab continues smoothly while rest of the federating units suffer from deadly violence with political parties demanding level playing field in the run-up for the May 11 polls.
Representatives of provincial governments, ministry of defence and interior are also attending the meeting to devise comprehensive security plan for the election.
The meeting would decide as to where the army would be deployed to maintain the law and order during the election. Sources said that details about the sensitive polling stations would also be presented in the meeting.
