Davis Cup committee denies Pakistan appeal
ISLAMABAD: The International Tennis Federation has denied Pakistan's appeal against awarding a Davis Cup tie to New Zealand due to an unplayable grass court in Yangon, Myanmar.

The ITF's Davis Cup committee, after meeting in London on Tuesday, says the “Pakistan Tennis Federation did not organize the tie to the required standards.”

The PTF could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.

Pakistan was given special approval in March to organize its Asia Oceania Group II tie against New Zealand at a neutral venue due to security reasons.

The PTF has the right to appeal the decision of the Davis Cup committee to the ITF board of directors.

Pakistan won the first singles and was leading in the second singles when the umpire stopped the tie and awarded it to New Zealand. The PTF wanted to resume the tie from where it was left off.
