MURREE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said his government will overcome the chronic issue of power shortage and loadshedding before the end of its tenure in 2018.
Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the renovated building of General Post Office (GPO) here, he said the promises of development made to the people of Murree will be fulfilled during the next two and half years.
The premier announced construction of a hospital and university equipped with modern machinery and facilities.
Nawaz Sharif said a water supply plan has been prepared for the area, and the shortage in this regard will be overcome. He also directed to ensure gas supply to every house in Murree.
The Prime Minister said he himself would supervise the development projects in the area and also ensure provision of the required funds.
Referring to the programme of restoring the natural beauty of Murree, he said the renovated building of GPO office is a model for other historical heritage in the area. He said the heritage of Mall Road will also be protected.
Earlier, PM Sharif inspected different parts of the GPO office building and the postal museum. He was briefed about the building.
The GPO Murree building has been restored in its original shape of 1930 after the renovation.
The restoration of the building is part of the prime minister's package to beautify the natural beauty of Murree, and it is a gift for the residents and the tourists.
Meanwhile, a meeting, chaired by the prime minister here, reviewed development projects in Murree.
It was attended by Federal Ministers, Pervaiz Rashid, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar.
Hamza Shahbaz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Asif Kirmani were also present in the meeting.
