Attack on Zikria Express kills teenager, injures 5

KOTRI: A teenager lost his life while five others sustained wounds when unknown men sprayed Zikria Express train with bullets near Kotri on Thursday, Geo News reported.

The incident prompted a police action in a locality near the railway station in which an accused was killed.

According to police, the unknown armed assailants opened fire on Multan-Karachi bound Zikria Express when it reached near Kotri railway station. Quickly after executing the attack the accused fled from the scene.

Six people present inside one of the rail cars of the train suffered injuries and were rushed to Taluka Hospital, Kotri where 12-year old boy Shahbaz, resident of Burewala, succumbed to his wounds.

Following the attack, police from Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Kotri cordoned off Khanpur locality near the Kotri railway station and launched a search operation in which one of the accused was killed. The search for other assailant(s) continues.
