ISLAMABAD: Police have foiled a terror bid in Islamabad by arresting five accused including two women, and recovering a huge amount of explosive material from their possession from a house located in Khayaban e Kashmir area.
According to the police, it carried out search operation in G-15 Khayaban e Kashmir area of the federal capital in the wee hours of Saturday. The Police said that the bomb disposal squad defused the explosives.
It further said that besides explosive material police also recovered detonators, 20 Kalashnikovs, 4 pistols, hand grenade and a wireless set from the same house.
Remote control spy instruments, toys filled with explosives and remote control planes were also recovered from the house. The Police are of the view that the remote control planes could be used as a new tactic for carrying out terrorist activity.
It is pertinent to mention here that few days ago police had also seized an explosive-laden vehicle from Bara Kahu area of Islamabad.
