KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday ordered removal of all the barriers from various thoroughfares of Karachi and directed the provincial government to present report in this regard on October 22, Geo News reported.
Two-member bench comprising Justice Nadeem Akhtar and Justice Aftab was hearing the petition pertaining to the barriers and encroachments on the roads of the port city.
During the proceedings, the provincial government presented its report, in which it said that barriers were placed on the road for the security of foreign embassies in district South.
The report claimed that Karachiites had no objection on the barriers and hurdles in this district.
On this, the court observed that roads could not be blocked for security purpose. Barriers and hurdles could be placed within the vicinity.
Later, the court ordered removal of all the barriers and asked provincial government to present report on October 22.
