KARACHI: Acting chairman National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Khwaja Muhammad Naeem said the review of power tariff will be made in one week’s time and utmost effort will be made to give maximum relief to the people.
Talking to Geo News, the Acting NEPRA Chief said the process for reviewing the electricity tariff on a request from the Ministry of Water and Power will be initiated from Monday.
He said besides reviewing power tariff requests from power distribution companies for financial year 20112-13 will be reviewed with a view to give relief to consumers, NEPRA will also review the tariff requests for 2013-14.
To a question as to how much relief will be given to the consumers, he said it would be premature to say anything on this count.
The Ministry of Water and Power referred the matter of revision of electricity tariff to NEPRA after the Supreme Court took notice of the unprecedented increase in the price of electricity.
