KARACHI: Eighteen suspects were taken into custody and several types of weapons recovered from them in a targeted operation conducted by the Rangers in various areas of the metropolis.
According to the rangers spokesman, the detainees included Lyari gang warriors while others are affiliated with political parties.
A heavy contingent of Rangers along with the women troops on a tip-off went into action near Ijtama Gah ground in Manghopir area.
Rangers' sources said that the operation was conducted on the information of the presence of terrorists belonging to banned outfits and eleven suspects were apprehended, while 28 weapons of different types were recovered during the operation.
The persons taken into custody belong to gang war and banned outfits, while the two persons allegedly involved in an explosion that had taken place a few days ago were also caught.
It may be recalled that three alleged terrorists riding motorcycles were killed in an explosion a few days ago in the same area.
The rangers spokesman said that they also carried out targeted operation in Khadda Market, Lyari, Madina Town, Landhi, Muhammad Pur, Orangi Town, Safoora Chowrangi, Mehran Town, Korangi and Gulshan e Iqbal areas, arresting seven accused.
