One militant killed, 2 cops injured in Bannu outpost attack

BANNU: At least one insurgent was killed, while two policemen were injured after dozens of militants stormed an outpost in remote Shaikh Landak area here on late Tuesday night, Geo News reported.

According to sources the attackers fired at least 12-15 rockets on the check post after which the cops engaged them in a shootout, which was in progress by the time of filing of this report.

Latest reports said at least two police were injured and at least one militant was killed in the attack perpetrated around 03:00 AM.

Superintendent of Police, Iqbal said that heavy backup had been called in to fight off the assailants as the cops deployed at the post did not have enough firepower to hold the insurgents for long.
