KARACHI: A hand grenade attack outside an Imambargah (Shia worship place)located in North Karachi Sector 11 left at least two policemen injured here on Wednesday night, Geo News reported.
This is the third such attack within hours of two bomb blasts that struck Paharganj area of North Nazimabad. Both the bombs, which went off nearly 60 minutes apart injured at least 8 people including two policemen and a Rangers personnel.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (West), Javed Odho, said the attackers wanted to target the mourners inside but fortunately the grenade undershot and fell outside the building otherwise casualties could have multiplied.
Odho further added that two cops deployed outside the Imambargah sustained serious injuries.
According to hospital sources, one of the wounded cops was critical.
Further investigation was afoot, said Odho.
It must be noted that all three attacks were perpetrated in Northern districts of the metropolis.
