PESHAWAR: A jirga comprising of tribal elders in Peshawar has demanded of the government to take steps to immediately stop drone attacks, Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Fazlur Rehman said.
Talking to media after attending the first meeting of tribal jirga in Peshawar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the meeting has termed drone attacks as an effort to sabotage peace talks with the Taliban.
He further said that the jirga after consulting political leadership has chalked out a road map to hold peace talks.
The jirga also demanded of the government to take practical steps for rehabilitation of affectees in tribal region, he said.
Fazl also made it clear that neither government nor Taliban expressed disagreement on the decisions taken by the jirga.
He expressed hope that change in military leadership would help both political and military leadership to adopt a joint road-map.
