DURBAN: Legendary South African allrounder Jacquis Kallis completed his fine hundred in his final Test match, on the fourth day of the second and final Test here at Kingsmead on Sunday.
This is his 45th Test hundred in his illustrious career of 166 matches which is going to be ended in the second and final Test against India in his home town.
The 38-year old cricketer reached his century in 273 balls with 31 boundaries.
Kallis became the 33rd batsman and the fourth South African to score a hundred in his last Test.
Other three batsmen from South Africa, who hit the century in their last Test were PGV van der Bijl, BA Richards and BL Irvine.
Interestingly, five batsmen achieved the feat of scoring hundred both on debut and the final Test.
Kallis is second on the all-time list of century-makers in Test cricket behind India´s Sachin Tendulkar, who finished with 51.
He announced on Christmas Day that he would retire from Test cricket after his 166th appearance for his country at Kingsmead — the same ground he made his debut at as a 20-year-old prodigy in 1995.
