PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has requested Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold local bodies elections in the province in March.
In the meeting of ECP here Wednesday, KP Chief Secretary said holding polls in February was not possible, adding that the provincial government could hold LB elections in the last week of March.
The ECP has directed the KP government to approach Supreme Court of Pakistan in this regard.
Meanwhile, speaking to media, Additional Secretary ECP Sher Afghan said the decision to use biometric system in KP LB polls has been deferred till next meeting.
He said legislation for LB polls in federal capital and cantonment areas was not yet completed.
