KARACHI: The Rabitta Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Monday expressed serious concern over what it claimed the continuing arrests of ‘innocent workers by law enforcers in civvies and killings of Urdu speaking professionals’ in various parts of the provincial capital.
The Rabitta Committee in its meeting at MQM Headquarters, Nine Zero, termed the above incidents and ‘practice of subjecting the MQM workers to brutal torture in detention and demand of bribe by policemen for their release’ as unlawful and unconstitutional.
They claimed that 6 MQM workers had been picked up and shifted to unknown location in the past 48 hours alone. These workers include: Ali Haider son of Muhammad Yousuf; Sameed son of Waleed; Salman son of Mushtaq Qureshi; Shoaib son of Muhammad Asghar; Faizan son of Qamaruddin and; Zia-ur-Rehman.
