Normalcy returns across Karachi
KARACHI: The sit-in by the supporters of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) is continuing at Numaish Chowrangi in Karachi, however, life is limping back to normalcy in the city of lights on Thursday after remaining paralysed for two days, Geo News reported.

Details have it that petrol pumps, roadside restaurants and markets have opened across Karachi following the appeal by the Rabita Committee leaders on Wednesday night.

Trade bodies also announced to resume business activities from today while transporters have also brought the public transport on roads, relieving the working class from the commotion that continued for two days followed by the arrest of MQM chief Altaf Hussain in London on Tuesday.

The members and supporters of the MQM started protest sit-in across the country including Karachi and demanded to hear their leader’s address. On Wednesday night, Altaf Hussain spoke from the London hospital over the telephone and appealed to the supporters to stay calm and avoid unlawful activities.

Until last reports, the detained MQM leader, who had stayed in self-imposed exile in London since 1991, was shifted to Wellington Hospital in London for his medical screening.
