HAFIZABAD: An 18-year-old young woman miraculously survived after being shot and thrown into a canal for marrying out of her own free will.
Saba Massod a resident of Gujranwala told the media that she had tied the knot with her relative Qaiser five days ago. Saba added that family members including her father (Maqsood Ahmed) and brother (Faisal) were unhappy over the marriage.
Saba further said her relatives shot her on the face and hands and as a result she was critically injured. Later, they put her in a sack and threw her into the canal, however, she survived miraculously.
Rescue 1122 and Saddar police shifted seriously injured Saba to district hospital.
Police have lodged case against the girl’s father brother, uncle Ashfaq Ahmed and aunt Sajida Bibi.
