KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has announced three days of mourning over the killing of its lawmaker Tahira Asif, who was shot and injured on Wednesday and succumbed to her injuries on late Thursday night at a local hospital during her treatment.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain has endorsed the party’s decision but has asked transporters, businessmen and people to continue their routine activities during the mourning period.
He said Tahira Asif kept speaking the truth despite being threatened. He lamented that no security was provided to the MQM lawmaker despite threats.
Futhermore, Altaf Hussain has also demanded that the government immediately arrest the elements involved in the murder of the MNA.
