Constitution Avenue still blocked despite SC order

ISLAMABAD: The Constitution Avenue still remains blocked despite the Supreme Court’s order to open it, as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) refused to shift take sit-ins to an alternative location.

Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Salman Aslam Butt submitted the government’s response in writing to the apex court today in connection with a petition against the extra-constitutional steps.

The AGP’s statement in writing says that the counsel of PAT has adopted the stance that relocating the sit-in of thousands of people to another place was not possible.

He suggested that the PAT sit-inners could be shifted to Parade Ground, Faizabad or Sports Complex. He said the administration will try to restore the flow of traffic on the Constitution Avenue.

A copy of Islamabad administration’s permission for Azadi and Revolution marches has also been attached with AGP’s response. It says that the marchers were not allowed to enter the Red Zone.
