Nisar accuses Aitzaz of being land mafia spokesman
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan of being the spokesman for the largest land mafia group in Pakistan.

In a statement Nisar said: “I know why Aitzaz is saying this, such statements are expected from the supporter and spokesman of the largest land mafia group."

The interior minister’s remarks were in response to Aitzaz Ahsan’s speech during the joint session of Parliament on Wednesday in which he was critical of the government but expressed his support for democracy and the constitution.

Nisar added that he had no respect for an individual who treated politics like a business.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah urged Nawaz Sharif to stop Nisar from issuing provocative statements as the PPP wanted to improve the situation. Shah called Nisar’s allegations against Aitzaz absurd, adding that the PPP could respond but did not want to deteriorate the situation.

Meanwhile, Aitzaz Ahsan said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had telephoned him and apologized for Nisar’s statements. Ahsan added that he would respond to Nisar during the joint session of Parliament on Friday.

According to Aitzaz the interior ministry was neither confirming nor denying Nisar’s statements.
