LAHORE: One person lost his life while ten others sustained injuries when a bus carrying pilgrims hit the ceiling of an underpass here at Jail Road on Saturday.
Ten people were sitting on the rooftop of the bus as it moved through the underpass. One person died on the spot while nine others sustained injuries when the moving bus, being larger than the space between the road and ceiling of the underpass, tried to make its way through.
The bus got stuck in the tunnel and the rescue team had to deflate the tyres of the bus to get it out of the underpass.
According to source, there were women and children among the passengers of the bus which was carrying them to the Urs of Hazrat Sultan Bahu in Jhang.
The injured have been shifted to Services Hospital.
