Funeral prayers of martyred Maj Wasif offered in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The funeral prayers of Major Wasif Ali were offered with state protocol in Peshawar on Sunday night, Geo News reported.

The prayers were said at Core Headquarter Peshawar which was attended by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, IGFC Maj-Gen Tayyab Azam, Corps Commander Hidayat-ur-Rehman and other civil and military officials.

The coffin of martyred major was sent to his native village for burial.

It may be mentioned that Major Wasif Ali embraced martyrdom while fighting the Taliban militants in North Waziristan yesterday.

Four other security officials were also martyred and four other soldiers sustained injuries in an attack on their post by militants in the Dattakhel area of the North Waziristan Agency. The security forces killed at least 34 militants in the retaliatory attacks.
