KARACHI: The Crime Branch of Karachi police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested five alleged terrorists in a raid conducted in Lyari area.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Branch, Shahjahan Khan, all the arrested terrorists including a foreigner were affiliated with the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“Five kilograms of explosives, SMG, three repeaters and a pistol were recovered from the possession of the accused”, SSP Shahjahan added.
The SSP said that the terrorists had attacked a check-post in Matni area of Peshawar, killing eight security personnel, while their ring leader Tariq Afridi had been killed in the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in militancy-infested North Waziristan Agency.
